Juliano de Miranda
Juliano de Miranda is a Brazilian who gained a Bachelor of Environmental Science degree from Bond University in 2015. Juliano achieved high grades notwithstanding having English as a second language and being a mature-aged student with a family to support.
Bethlea Bell
Bethlea Bell achieved the highest GPA for the Bachelor of Environmental Science graduating class of 2015. More importantly, Bethlea has been active as a volunteer in conservation organisations both as a student and a citizen. She has also implemented environmental principles on her family farm.
Megan Abbey Castelli
Megan Castelli started Honours mid year 2015 after completing her BScwith a course weighted average of 86.17%. She presented data from her research project at the Australian Society of Herptologists 2016 National conference.
She also completed volunteer work at the WA Herbarium mounting dried plant specimens and participated in a marine debris project in Jurien Bay which involved collecting and recording the rubbish from local beaches in order to better coordinate beach clean-up efforts.
Lindsey Frost
Lindsey Frost completed her Bachelor of Environmental Science in 2015 with the highest GPA for the class. Lindsey is interested in the sustainable management of our natural resources, in particular the management and restoration of freshwater ecosystems.
Simon Mould
Simon Mould was awarded both the 200-level and 300-level Environmental Science prizes for best overall performance at these levels in 2012 and 2013. In 2011 he also received the Geographical Society’s prize for proficiency in 2nd Year Geography. His M Res thesis Socio-geomorphic evolution of an Australian upland river: A physical and social basis for rehabilitation received a grade of 90%, resulted in a paper in Environmental Research, and was awarded best poster at the Australia-New Zealand Geomorphology Group conference in 2014.
Xénia Weber
Xénia Weber completed a PhB (Science) in 2015 and received a University Medal for her sustained, outstanding performance. Her undergraduate studies included six Advanced Studies (research project) Courses, two in Arts and four in Science; two of these projects led to published journal articles, including one on which Xénia was lead author.
Robyn Rawlings
Robyn Rawlings completed a B. Environmental Science and is currently undertaking an Honours degree studying the use of native plants in living green walls. During her undergraduate program she produced several reports that have engaged state government stakeholders, including a 2012 report on improving the accessibility of trails in the Adelaide Hills. Robyn has also chaired community environmental groups and designed public information materials, including a popular information sheet on Chilean Needle grass.
Joel McKechnie
Joel McKechnie graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Environmental Science, with minors in Environmental Systems and Wildlife Biology. Joel has an excellent academic record graduating with a GPA of 6.2. In particular, Joel received high grades for his academic achievements in subjects relating to field mapping, remote sensing and geographic information systems. He also excelled during his capstone unit, where he undertook a group project working with the remote sensing division at DSITI (Queensland Government) and the Cubberla-Witton Catchment Management group. Joel displayed aptitude, maturity and strong organisational skills when liaising with these external partners and was critical in the team’s success in their mapping project.
